Croydon Childminding Association (CCMA) Best Practice Forum, Saturday 7th May 2016


The Best Practice Forum was organised by the 11 Committee Members who worked tirelessly to ensure that the day went smoothly. The event was to raise the profile of Croydon Childminders and to recognise and celebrate the fantastic achievements made by Croydon Childminders towards the increase of Ofsted Good and Outstanding Grading within the 2012-2016 cycle. 41 Childminders and 8 Guests attended.

The Guest speakers included;
Debbie Alcock of Influential Child Care Training, who provided us with an overview of The Prevent Duty For Childminders.

The Deputy Mayor of Croydon, Councillor Wayne Trakas-Lawlor and his Consort Mr Michael Trakas. The Deputy Mayor presented the CCMA Certificate of Achievement awarded to the Childminders who received Good and Outstanding Grading in their Ofsted Inspection and kindly agreed to take pictures with us all.

Laura McRoberts from the Local Authority. Laura provided us with an update of the changes occurring within the Local Authority with regards to The Best Start and how it would affect Childminders in the future. More information will be made available in June.

5 fantastic Childminders also volunteered to share some of their best practice ideas with us.
Mary Peto shared Home Learning Packs for Parents and Children.
Debbie Williams shared ideas on Outdoor Natural Play.
Angela Pope shared Magnetic Visuals on Healthy Food.
Sukeina Panjwani shared Planning and Observations.
Rebecca Brown shared I am Unique.

A special announcement and presentation of flowers was made by Kim Esnard, where she informed the attendants of the Honorary Life Membership Certificate awarded to Joana Smith, In Recognition of her outstanding contribution as a Volunteer for PACEY (Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years).
Joana had also been invited to Her Majesty’s Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday 10th May 2016.

There were Early Years Resources made available to be purchased and photographs to capture the day were taken by Jonathon MacCarthy of Vitae Photography.
Refreshments including tea, coffee, soft drinks, and a wide range of pastries, cookies and fruits were also provided.
